The official opening evening, Cocktail for Fynbos, is a gala charity event that is high on the Hermanus social calendar. It will be held in aid of the Hermanus Botanical Society, on Friday 7 August. This evening of live entertainment, delicious supper, unlimited wine tasting, a silent wine auction of fine wines and socializing with the winemakers and chefs of the Overberg, raises funds for the Environmental Education School of the Overstrand.

The importance of the Overberg as a wine producing region is beyond doubt with many of the top wines of the country being made here. More than seventy producers from, Ataraxia to Zoetendal, will present their wines for tasting at the Hermanus Wine and Food Fair and all the wines will be available for purchase at special prices during and after the fair at Wine Village. This is the only Wine and Food Fair in South Africa where you are able to taste wine, buy wine and take it home immediately or have it shipped to your destination of choice.
